The area comprises mainly pre and post war houses and is served by a scattering of local shops with more major shopping complexes within two miles or closer. University/Conservation Area

Again a fashionable residential area which surrounds the extensive University campus and Royal Berkshire hospital. The large majority of the houses were built in the Victorian era for the workers at Huntley and Palmers. Most of Reading’s best private and grammar schools are to be found in this area. Which is almost exclusively residential but within walking distance of the town centre.
